What this site collects
Short, because the site collects little. Everything below describes what the code actually does, not what a template says it might.
The register
Business listings are published deliberately — that is the point of a register. Everything shown on a listing was supplied by the business for publication: trading name, sector, products, location, and the contacts it chose to publish. Nothing is added that a business did not give us.
A listing can be corrected or removed at any time, for any reason, by writing to the Secretariat. We do not ask why.
The assistant
Questions you type into the assistant, on this site or over WhatsApp, are sent to Anthropic's API to generate an answer, together with passages from this site's own published content.
No conversation is written to a database. The question is used to build one request and is then discarded with the request. The only retention is our hosting provider's ordinary server logs, which record requests for operational and security purposes and are not read to build a profile of anyone.
Do not send anything confidential to the assistant. It is an automated tool that answers from published material, and it will tell you to contact the Secretariat whenever it does not know — which is often, by design.
Payments
Payments are taken on Pesapal's own secure page. No card number and no M-Pesa PIN is ever entered on this site, transmitted through it, or stored by it.
What this site handles is the contact details you type before being sent to Pesapal — your name, email address and phone number — which are passed to Pesapal with the order so a receipt can reach you. A record of each transaction is kept by the Chapter for accounting and reconciliation: the reference, what was bought, the amount, the status and the date.
Forms
Details submitted through the "add your business" form are emailed to the Chapter Secretariat, which checks each entry before publishing it. They are not published automatically and are not used for anything else.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising or third-party tracking scripts. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Membership records are held on the national KNCCI platform, not here. Requests about a membership record go to the national Chamber.
